I am asking if anyone on this club that has played Battlefield 3 or MW3 (MW3 being less demanding) how the GTX 680 performs in those game or in games in general versus what you might have worked with prior to upgrading. I bought a GTX 480 not long ago and was thinking of adding a second one soon. OR should I maybe sell it now for a little bit of a loss and go for a single GTX 680? Is it worth the couple hundred extra Washington's? rolleyes.gif

the 480s are like 1970s muscle cars - they are fast but guzzlers indeed.

Well I guess I'm gonna take a break and swap in the second card now before SLI tomorrow to make sure it doesn't suck

HUGE difference. My 570s OC'd to ~850/2100 got it up to 100fps maxed but there was a lot of tearing. With v-sync it would stutter. Now with one 680 I put the Framerate Target at 85fps and it plays it maxed out in multiplayer, sometimes slips down to 60fps, but usually at 85 and theres no tearing or stuttering at all. I must have never noticed the micro-stutter everyone talks about, because, tearing aside, I thought it was pretty smooth at 100fps. But nope. 85fps on the 680 is so much better.

Having just 1- 680 would open the door for another one down the road - I would upgrade the PSU first I think just for the sake of upgrading. I know form a power consumption point - my 750w PSU will support 2-480s running in tandem so it would in theory would run 680s in tandem. I would also look at the GTX 670 or 660ti as a more affordable option to run in SLI.

it it much louder if not the same (i am not db expert but the fan can be heard in the living room) as my previous reference GTX 570

You have to be kidding, it is much quieter since it runs much cooler...
