People keep saying 'sweet card omg etc' whenever someone hits 1300 core. The fact is ALL of our cards can do (and beyond) it if we could just add a TINY bit extra voltage. The amount of voltage needed to reach 1400 core is so miniscule that it is clear nvidea is intentionally capping our cards so that they can profit from re-branding it with unlocked voltage.

We all have sweet cards, they are just handicapped.

It doesn't work like that. Run afterburner and it will show you what its actually hitting. The offset applies to the base clock. Boost will do what it wants beyond that.

No temperature drop, only for looks and to protect the pcb.

Sure does look nice though with a backplate installed!biggrin.gif

@Supper - exactly what Mr.TOOSHORT said regarding the back plate. Protection and aesthetics.

You can get marginal improvements with a high flow bracket. Both the 580 I had & 680 I own, it lowered 1C idle and 2-3C full throttle temperatures. I've had both high flow bracket & back plate installed on my EVGA cards.

As soon as the 690 back plate comes out at the end of the month it's mine as the cherry on top. Aesthetically beautiful.

Got it. Might as well kill two birds with one stone, though. No more "what ifs" Back up to 4.8GHz. Lol.

One thing to love about SSDs, faster boot times for driver crashes. thumb.gif

Yup, the backplate is 99% aesthetics and protection. But there's a couple of thermal pads on the plate, to aid a bit in cooling, I reckon.

nah mate with +75 you should be getting 1235 on that card because atm i have tried +80 and i got 1240. So 1240 is a good overclock.

I am yet to test my cards max speeds

I have a question folks

Does OC versions of 680s being altered in voltage as well? or just core clock speeds?
