How to run an original xbox game through an emulator

Thread Starter
My xbox recently died (10 years old now) and im wondering how to play my games on on an emulator, i open the emulator and load the disc, but its locked out, just plays that message that it only works on an xbox, so i did some searching and it turns out i have to make an image of it, what software can anyone recommend me for making usable backups of my games?

the emulator im using is called cxbx redface.gif if that helps

ImgBurn is great for making ISO's. Works for my PS1 & PS2 backups. It sounds like it's supported but I haven't tried it with xbox games.

You may need to have xbox bios in the cxbx directory.
The only legal way to obtain it is by extracting it yourself.

After more research is your game one of the 5 playable games?

Compatibility List

Might be worth giving dxbx (here) a go instead? It's still being supported. Last update 2011-12-11

i have a few of the playable games in that list, conker live and reloaded has been tested it seems, ill see about getting the bios, since the xbox is dad (assuming power supply failed) i have no problems cracking it open to get the hard drive

thanks for your help stonetrap, but im gonna call it a day since most of my games probably wont be playable, i guess ill just have to swallow my pride and buy a 360, theyre pretty cheap at the moment, about $150 for a 4gb base model, but ill be checking whether or not ill need a hard drive for it first

Do get the hard drive accesible you need to have the eeprom to get the hard drive key.
There are guides around on how to use a PC power supply to run an xbox.

If you have splinter cell or mech warrior you can softmod the xbox and possibly extract the bios from that.

PM me for more info.
I have quite a bit of experience messing aroudn with the xbox. I have mine modded with a 120gb hard drive and a softmod. No modchip needed.
