Yes, my graphics card/s are now fully utilised and running much better and smoother
  • 24% (15)
No, some extra performance but not as much as an improvement as I was expecting

I'm surprised at the amount of night and day comments in this thread.

The only time my pc's performance changed using a night and day comparison is the addition of an ssd. And most people probably added an ssd in the new machine, thus the so pathetic comparisons of 'night and day' .
Seriously? You feel the computer is overall smoother??

Well my experience is, i'm rather disappointed with the intel arch because if my msn rings a bell, whole computer spikes a bit. Happens on my i7 920 @ 4ghz too. This never happened on my ph2 550, or my fx8150.

And recently ive been occasionally spiking like a **** head playing deadly 30, it has like mario graphics. Its like the cpu thinks the game is so **** and so non-resource consuming it decides not to runit properly anymore. It helps if i set affinity to one core and and prioritize it above normal... but still spikes a bit...

Really disappointing switch for me frown.gif

Went from a 1055T to a 2600K. I recommend just doing the research on the games you play - in most games there were only minuscule differences that you wouldn't notice without using something to measure framerates, however in CPU intensive games I noticed differences.

Again do your research is what I recommend, for someone only playing something like 1v1 Starcraft 2 i'd say stick to something like a 5800K and put the saved money into an SSD or what have you, but if you're someone who mainly does 4v4 where battles can get insanely huge and very CPU intensive you'll benefit from going SB/IB.

Was it worth it? probably not for me personally since I realized I don't do the CPU intensive stuff so much, but I fold in the winter so it's nice to have the 2600K heating my room then tongue.gif

My experience has been absolutely brilliant with my old system being a Phenom II 955 BE and the changes really are different the Processor is much faster and apps are opening with the click of a button.
The IMC in the 3770k is much better performance wise giving me around a 10,000MB increase in RAM speeds!
With my 955BE i was getting 10000 memory-copy and the likes even with a NB overclock to 2.8Ghz!
With my 3770k i am getting 23000MB Memory-COPY!
Overclocking is also very easy but, i do not like the heat issues these IVY CPU's are having, i am tempted to delid.
Even under water cooling at 4.4Ghz, 1.23V i am reaching 70C!
With my Phenom at 4Ghz 1.47V i would reach a top of 47C!
This is my only problem with Intel so far, and i hate the way the Core temps are handled, why not pack the cores closer to gather so we can get an even reading on all cores!
But as stated I'm loving now just if they can fix these damn heat problems.

I moved to Sandy from a 990FX platform

Phenom X4 960T to Core i5 2500K, I didn't want to buy Bulldozer thou cause it would've been an epic fail. My GPUs are the same as before, performance jumped like crazy when I installed an Intel CPU. Let's take Crysis for example, my fps were like 25 to 35 max on a phenom with 1680x1050 now i have 45 to 65 fps (sometimes higher when there isn't too much vegetation) at the same resolution. Everything's faster I mean Windows installs a lot faster, virus scans and video conversions are taking much less time, loading of every damn game is faster... Yeah I'd say it was well worth it

best move i made,
coming from AMD's 1100T with a GA-990FXA-UD3,
i mean, it served me well, but ive build it for the bulldozer, and that was disappointing..
and really, i was a AMD guy for a long time ..

so when ivy came out, i was impressed
i made my move over to intel for the first time ever,
i can sum up my experience in one word actually, WAUW!
i know the thread is about sandy but ...

so, now i have a 3770k, and am very happy with it,
4.7ghz daily oc..my temps are low because of delidding it ..

sure, one can argue that theres not "much" difference,
but i do notice its faster with anything i do, compared to my 1100T smile.gif

but still, the 1100T wins with its prize, i bought mine for 160 euro,
i had to pay 300 euro for my 3770K see..
if you look at it that way, and the speedgain between those 2, and the prize, amd wins big time wink.gif

as multi threaded programs and such will be more available over time,
that ol' 6 core is a good one to have..lol..
yea, still have feelings for amd , i know .. wink.gif

sluggish performance is the difference between a SSD and a HDD. It has nothing to do with a CPU. SWTOR is so badly optimized that most people need to create ram disks for loading textures.

I am going to make the move to Intel. Its going to be sad to say goodbye to my 1090T. It has been giving me bottleneck issue with my 570 sli in some games. Amd threw in the towel which is sad. Its time for an upgrade anyway! thumb.gif
