New Antivirus

Thread Starter
So for the past three or four year i have been using Bullguard Internet Security and i cant really fault the product.
I used this one because i found that didn't affect my connection when gaming opposed to other i tried, anyway i have been paying about £23 for one year subscription, this year when it came to renew my subscription i go to their website and im presented with a lovely amount of £50 to use their Internet Security 12 for one year! ***!!!!!
I contacted them and been told the price difference is because they no longer provide just a one licence product but a three licence product only. So basically either pay £50 for one machine and throw the other 2 licences away or piss off.

Now that i got my morning moaning out of my chest, is any one out there that could recommend a similar good antivirus with some sort of gaming interface.

Thanks in advance people.

I use Bitdefender Internet Security 2012 and it has "Game Mode". Don't know what it does as I've never used it (I don't game), but it's there if you need it I guess. You can find cheap licenses on ebay usually, I got 3 licenses for $40 AUD.

Otherwise, just get MSE. It's free and excellent when coupled with a good firewall.

Microsoft Security Essentials (Free) + MVPS Host = Bullet Proof System...

The best idea is to backup your hard drive with a disc image, that way if you do get infected or whatever, you can simply revert your HDD back to the state that it was in when it was working.... (You should capture a new image of your drive every now and then so you wont lose work!)

Personally I use Cobian Backup to keep my files backed up HOURLY, plus it offers compression & encryption, and it's free, can't beat that, nope!

I personally like to use Spybot Search & Destory (1.62 version!) because it has tools that are extremely useful!

MVPS looks pretty cool. Thanks.
If you're going to have a custom hosts file, then I'd also like to add this: http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/

Also, wouldn't hourly compressed backups generate more overhead than running an AV?
