Music syncing

Thread Starter
Is there a way to sync music onto your phone like iTunes? I constantly update and grow my collection (6K+songs) so I need to be able to sync things from foobar.

Curious about this myself. I think winamp does something like this but when I tried it it wasn't very good. I just want something where I plug in my phone and it adds anything that I've added to my music folder and also deletes anything I've deleted from it, too.

Idk if you found anything but I found out about musicbee and it syncs byte-by-byte copies and does deletes and can do it automatically. Way better than foobar and winamp.

Um what phone do you have???

With Android just use Google Music. I have over 6000 songs on Google Music and whenever I add more to my PC it automatically syncs and I have access to them from any phone, tablet, or PC.

I'm also a user of foobar2000 and I have a collection of ~2400 songs, mostly in FLAC. With my iPod I have a great extension that syncs all your music (or selected playlists) and will encode the FLAC down as well, so I wanted something similar to that.

I looked all around but it appears there just isn't anything out there yet, however I found something which is close enough. Using foobar2000's built in "converter" utility, I set up a preset which will:

Encode all the selected songs to V0 MP3
Copy them into my phone in the Music\Artist\Album folder
Copy the album artwork into the folder too

So after clicking that and waiting, I'm ready to go with that music on there. Of course, the main disadvantage of this is that every time you add something to your music collection you will need to manually go in there and select it to be converted. Space wize, I can't afford to keep all of my music on my phone even in V0 MP3, so when I get a new album I won't necessarily want to copy it onto my phone.

Anyway, if you want the settings for my preset thing then I'll happily give them to you.

Google Music can store up to 20,000 songs free. That's what I use. Doesn't download anything to your phone (besides the app itself) and just streams over 3G or 4G. Works like a charm every time.

Google Music is currently only available in the US, though. frown.gif

The only thing I know of is spotify which wouldn't pull from your current collection but it will sync over wifi.

Have you tried doubletwist? It does exactly what you want.
