Dude, I did an amazing discovery today, check this out.
Now, according to AMD, this is the "standard" for determining which card is the fastest in the world.Proof
AMD: prove it, don't just say it
Dave Erskine, senior public relations manager for AMD graphics, has personally issued a challenge to NVIDIA. He wants the green team to "prove it, don’t just say it" by divulging the exact methodology by which NVIDIA has come to the attention-grabbing conclusion of world's fastest.
Rather, he believes the Radeon HD 6990 is the fastest graphics card around and backs up the claim by referencing scores in the 'industry-standard' 3DMark 11 benchmark, where the Radeon beats the GeForce by around 10 per cent, more if in turbo mode.
Therefore, we now have a new king, and AMD no longer holds the title of the World's fastest graphics card!
I wonder when they're going to take this ticker down?

So technically since the absolute fastest gaming rig would be 4x 7970's.. which is really faster? GTX 680 is good with "lower resolution" (2560x1600 and under), much after that even a single 7970 shows negligible gap overall. It's not a clear-cut, outright beast of a card like the GTX 580 was compared to the 6970. But yes, on average the 680 is a little faster. Nothing to write home about, and not even close to the hype of Kepler.
Nvidia needs to release drivers to properly support 3 & 4 way SLI.
Just look at the 1st chart you linked, it's pretty obvious.
Single 680 --> 66.7 FPS
SLI 680's --> 120 FPS
Tri-SLI --> 128 FPS
4 way --> 131 FPS
Do you really believe that the gains from 3 to 4 way SLI are only 3 FPS?
In other reviews we've seen, SLI was outperforming 3 & 4 way SLI at times, this is an indication that proper drivers need to be released.
The card has been out for less than 24 hours, give them time.Edited by 2010rig - 3/23/12 at 3:00am
