When I checked, the only site that listed them was 4launch (typically not known for the best prices), and they only had 2 Asus cards. Good things come to those who wait... unfortunately, patience has never been one of my virtues.

Alternate doesn't always show up in Tweakers.net Prijsvergelijker and such. Just keep in mind for the next time. Most of the time they have cheaper HW at launch because of greater volumes. Then again if you had it shipped, you would have only saved 5-10 euros or so, you did not pay a bad price tongue.gif

Apparently some stores are dropping prices of the 7970 to lose stock now too.

Give it a rest GoldenTiger with your nonsense. Just because you claim to be a 'programmer' doesn't make you a hardware guru.

I don't call this retaking the performance crown... rolleyes.gif
By the way, that is with the 7970 at a mere 1125mhz, which is what most people attain at stock voltage.

Which is what I have said this whole time.... . That at stock or near stock volts that 1075 to 1125 is the limit. I.e. as I said also, without turning the card into a dustbuster. You were in such a fit that you haven't even been reading what I was saying.

http://alienbabeltech.com/main/?p=28910 oc-to-oc review, as I said the entire time the Radeon 7970's average at stock volt & non-dust-buster fan speeds as you just agreed was the average, shows the GTX 680 is faster. Additionally as I've said this entire time, it is faster, cheaper, quieter, consumes less power, etc.

I am really looking forward to seeing the GTX 660 Ti, I was thinking of getting a 7870 but I might go green team this time for the first time since my old GeForce 4200 Ti.

I don't get it....my card can do 1200 on stock volts. 1280 was my max on the reference cooler, and 1350+ on water. And my card is honestly an average 7970 according to Asic quality. If anything its worse than a lot of them, because my Asic quality is too high.

The BEST 680 I have ever seen can pull off 1260 on the reference cooler. The majority can pull off 1150-1200 or so (which is what a lot of 7970's are pulling at stock volts). And my 7970 at 1200 meets it in Heaven, which is an Nvidia biased benchmark. confused.gif

As I also have said this entire time, on average... most people's Radeon 7970's are not coming near 1200mhz on stock volts, let alone with normal 24/7 noise levels. 1075-1125 is average for a Radeon 7970 on stock volts/reasonable noise levels.

P.S. I have seen 1300+ GTX 680's on some forums by "normal" users and 1430 on the ref cooler by Kingpin, but regardless, ~1260ish is appearing to be more typical for them. Even your own sig has your 7970 voltbumped and at 1150mhz core for what I assume is normal usage, right?

No you're right. Most people get around 1100-1150 on stock volts on the 7970. The low end would probably be about 1075.

Here on OCN, the typical GTX 680 is getting anywhere from +100 to +150Mhz, which is 1150-1200MHz after boost. And no, my 7970 is stock volts at 1150. At 1200 it requires 100% fan speed, at 1150 I can use auto fan. My card is 1.175v stock. My overclock in my sig rig is my normal usage clock speeds, since I don't like 100% fan speed.

And I personally have benchmarked Heaven with my 7970 at 1200 / 1600, CPU at stock 3.3GHz, versus kcuestag's GTX680 at +175 / +500, which is concidered a golden 680 right now (due to lack of voltage control) with an i7 2600k at 4.8. The results were that we were neck and neck in Heaven. We both got 53.1 FPS. He had less of an overclock over stock....I had less of a clock speed period. However we were both at our "max" stock volts overclocks (not counting CPU's).

That's very similar to what I've said this entire time, yet I've gotten a lot of aggressiveness thrown at me for doing so...

GTX 680 stock turbo caps at about 1100mhz per reviews, so offsets of +100-150 actually result in it trying to go for 1200-1250mhz core speeds.

Reviews I'm seeing with game tests are showing, for the most part, that what we're talking about as a normal-oc to normal-oc the gtx 680 is coming out slightly ahead on the majority (not all) of tests, not by a huge margin or anything, but it's still $50 less and has extras like 3d vision which people like.

+100 / +150 is 1150-1200MHz, not 1200-1250. Stock turbo is only 1050.

And yes, the cards are honestly neck and neck after stock volt overclocking. The 7970 can go further due to voltage adjustments, the 680 cannot (as of yet). So they're really about on par with each other.

The pricing is correct, assuming you can find a 680 in stock, and assuming that AMD isn't going to drop the prices on Monday....which they probably will. You can find USED 7970's for cheaper than a new 680 though...ones with full warranties in tact. Something for people to consider.

As far as 3D goes...I can't stand it, and I will NOT buy into it. PhysX I could care less about. I can count the number of PhysX games I own on one hand, and I own most of the good ones.
