PCI Bus Speed

Thread Starter
I was playing around with my athlon xp2200+ and gigabyte 7vrxp this weekend. The bios doesn't have a pci bus lock option. Is there a way to tell if it is locked automaticly or am I overclocking that too. I don't want to do any damage to those components, or lose my hard drive data
Is there a program or some other way to monitor the pci bus speed?

Well if theres no option for it then it means its usually unlocked in alot of cases. Be careful. Unfortuanately i dont know of any programs to monitor it however im sure there are some.

Default is I think 33... unless that's AGP...

namrac your right pci is 33MHz at default i would not take it above 38MHz which is a 15% increase to be safe

33mhz is the default for PCI yes. Anything above 35mhz can cause damage to sensitive device such as SATA devices.
