Buy GTX 680 or wait? - Page 2

@OP
I would wait for the cards to settle in for a couple of weeks. See if amd drops their prices then make a decision.

If rumors are right, getting the 685 would be a nice idea, skip the 780 and change them when Maxwell is released, IMO.
I'll wait a couple of months for:
1.- wait for a non-reference cooling design (MSI TF or Asus DC2)
2.-wait and see if the rumors of the 685 are still strong and if Nvidia will eventually release the GK110 as the 685
Then ill make a decision thumb.gif

Any idea on when the kepler "560 ti" will be released? Or even the gtx 670?

Thanks!

You could always get another 480 and SLI them. It should be cheaper and faster than a single 680.

Oh nevermind....just saw the 460s

No idea, sad part is that the 680 was supposed to be that card you're asking for, but since the GK110 was delayed they named the GK104 as 680.

Maybe a downclocked version of the 680 will be the 660-670, easier for Nvidia, just a wild guess.

Unless AMD makes some serious price cuts I highly doubt NV will introduce a card that is "weaker" than this card, as all the speculation is that GK110 will surpass it. So the chances of seeing a "lower" performance card would more than likely hinge on 1. Price cuts for 7970, 2. Any item cards AMD introduces in the next 2-3 months (7990 or 8xxx).

@OP if you can buy the card and WANT it, then buy it. As others say, if you wait, then you will find yourself waiting forever.

That doesn't make sense o.0

Of course they will release a bunch of cards that are slower...not everyone has 500 dollars to drop on one pc part. There will be the usual slew of gtx601-679 models.

What I hope is a 670 or something that unlocks to 680 biggrin.gif

Now that I read about this I may do this also and just get another 6970 to Xfire since they should be dirt cheap by the time I will be able to get one.

Maybe so, but imagine if they released at something like $550-$600 and they just lowered the GTX 680 down in price.
lol AMD would be toast.

Main reason I won't wait is because the other cards will cost more and I'm not really willing to pay more than $500 for a card...plus I have a 260 now and can't stand it anymore.
