Interesting. It's a lot closer than I would've thought or maybe it's what I had hoped for in the back of my mind..., and damn that's a nice OC on the 680.

Good review. I was surprised at the results overall; I thought the 7970 would pull away. Both seem to be great cards however.

Sweet!

Not that I was second guessing my current in-process 7970 build or anything... but seeing the OC-to-OC results just solidifies my decision. Plus, even though Kepler now supports Surround with one card, it doesn't quite seem like this current iteration is geared for it which is important for me with my current (1900x1200)x3 setup :P

Very interesting to say the least.

Cool, looks like they are head to head when OCed.

If they were released at the same time I would probably go for the GTX 680 just for the cool Vsync feature. But I am still glad I bought a 7970, two and a half months isn't worth the wait for just some cool features in my eyes.

Closer clocks means better prices and hopefully better drivers.

Also guys, to get past 1300/1400+ on the 680 you have to look at hardmodding to bypass the stock vrms using a vrm board like evga did and others. You don't have to do this with a 7970, just add LN2 lol.

After reading this and other reviews, I'll keep my 7970's a while longer. I would like 2 of the EVGA FTW 680 though.

Maybe I'll just add another 7970.

Interesting overclocking results. I think we will be the winners with hopefully great pricing in the months to follow.
