Random lock up and restarts?

Thread Starter
I am need of some help with a system, for some reason I am getting random restarts, crashes and lock ups. The system is as follows:

I7 2600K (stock)
MSI Z68a-GD55
4x4GB Corsair Vengence DDR3 1600MHZ
Evga GTX 570
Creative X-FI Titanium
Corsair TX-750

The system is at straight stock on everything and passes 3 passes of memtest as well as intel burn it test. The event doesnt show anything useful, just some application crashes. I am kind of at a lost here. I know that 16GB of ram is alot as well as having all four dimms populated but I can't seem to figure out what is causing these crashes. Oh and I haven't seen an acutal blue screen.

What are you using for a hard drive? I have seen that problem with some SSD's and is usually fixed with a firmware update.

I have a 120Gb Vertex III and a 1TB WD black

EDIT:

The SSD has the current 2.15 firmware from OCZ

Well then it isn't likely due to firmware. Is this a new build or have you had this system running stable for a long time and it just now started doing this? If it is a new build, I would try booting with just one stick of ram to rule out it being a ram issue.

It's a newer build that has been stable for a few months. The ram has been stress tested using memtest.

That is indeed very strange. I was getting random BSOD on my system after it had been stable for about 2 months and it turned out being a ram compatibility issues. I was using Kingston Hyper-X ram and when I swapped it out with a different kind of ram the problem when away. It turned out that there wasn't actually anything wrong with the ram itself, it was just a compatibility issue - this might not be your problem, but if you can get your hands on a different stick of ram it wouldn't hurt to try it.

Also, since you just started having this problem after a few months of everything being stable, can you think of anything you installed (software or hardware) since the last time your system was stable?

nope the system hasn't really changed, other than the nvidia drivers. Those were updated when 296.10 came out. I agree this is strange, and I really can't seem to figure it out to save my life.
