[ITw] Google patents technology to serve ads based on background noise - Page 3

Google Apps were too intrusive a long time ago. I suggest everyone stop using the Android Market/Google Play, re-set your phone and never accept any Google TOS ever again. I like their search engine, and Android (as long as it remains FOSS), but that's about it.

Oh, and everybody please stop installing apps that want access to your contacts and phone calls, if we didn't accept it they wouldn't be asking.

April fools, morons. Google pulls one off every year. They're making a mockery of the skeptic fools that honestly believe Google cares about their worthless personal lives.

It's not April 1st. Anyone doing an "April Fools" joke before April first is the moron.

Probably ones which say "Get ripped in 4 weeks!"

I can't see them using it based on stuff like background noise, although they have the ability to. Think of the battery power required to stream your data from your smartphone to Google constantly. Smartphone batteries barely last a days heavy use as it is. I can this being one of those patents that they have and just didn't expect to have to use, but its there if they find a use for it. It could advertise a bands album to you if you were at a music festival, for example. Kinda like a targeted Shazam listen-in.

I've never read a written rule forbidding setting up an April fool's joke to then state "April fool" on the first. Kind of easy to expect jokes and lies on the first isn't it? Pretty sure that recent flying man video was intended to be an April fool's joke.My wife did it to me and told me a few days before the first that she was pregnant, that was a good one.
