A) Sony has no room to talk about pricing.
B) The Wii is probably the best pricepoint/features ratio ever in the console scene.
C) Forget the MSRP. The only way to get a PS3 for a while will be for $2K off eBay.

Sony is starting to piss me off with their snobby attitude.

Honestly, I don't know if there's anything strong enought to be smoking to make you say this. This is just retarded. The $600 ps3 isn't overpriced, but the $250 Wii and the $400 Xbox 360 are. That is the stupidest comment I have ever heard.

Yeah, you buy a Wii for 250$ and then you buy 7 or more games...and you are at 600$. A new console and 7 games for the price of a PS3 with no games? WTH???

haha..

I think we can all agree, Sony has no chance in this console war, they dont even have a place in it. They cant make them fast enough to keep up with the initial demand, have to delay a Europe launch, and act like they have already won..

I think the Wii should be priced at $210-230 max due to it lack of power compare to the other next-gen consoles. As for the 360, it not even a HD-DVD gaming system. I can't believe it still use DVD format for its games/softwares what a rip off system, not to mention that you have a buy an external hardware at $250.

For the pricing, $299 for the core and $399 for the Pro plus $250 for an external HD-DVD Drive, do the math. The core system with the external HD drive that $550 (add another $50 = PS3) and the Pro system will be at $650. So who is ripping who off now? Sony or Microsoft? Sooner or later the 360 owner would be the Hd-dvd drive.

To be honest, I think the entire new generation of consoles is priced too high no matter who makes it. $150 is the highest reasonable price for me to buy a console, since full-throttle graphics is what the big-bucks PC is for.

You do not need HD-DVD or Blu-Ray to run a game off of. There are plenty of lossless or near lossless texture compression algorithms that allow a game to easily fit on a single DVD. Look at the size of Oblivion. That all fits on a single-layer (4.5GB) DVD. Take a dual-layer DVD (9GB) and you can easily fit a game more than twice the size of Oblivion on it.

The external HD-DVD drive is for movies only, and will cost $200 not $250 in order to bring the price of a premium 360 and the HD-DVD drive on par with a PS3 system. Microsoft has promised no games will be released on HD-DVD, so users will not be forced to upgrade.

You tell him HrnyGoat!

I'm getting a Wii... end of discussion. We might get 2 Wii's in my house eventually (right before I move out... I'll need my own, right?)

Sony is really pissing me off. And I've cast my vote. I've owned every Nintendo console ever, and none of them has ever dissapointed me. The PS and PS2 were ok, but now I can't buy the PS3. Too many factors of... of... anger-ness
post #20 of 58
Yeah.. Oblivion fits on a single DVD, and that game is insanely demanding and huge. DVD has a much longer life than you think, and with a companies claimed 70% texture reduction size, we could see DVD being hte standard for another generation.
