I can't find any reason behind why you will need more than one 680 for 1080p.
If your fps is dropping below your refresh rate, then the answer is self-explanatory. If not, then I wouldn't bother with keeping 2 cards.

Curious to see if you can max bf3 and keep the min above 60 FPS on large multiplayer maps.

But now that I think about it, I would much rather turn down settings just a tad before dealing with the headache of two cards. If you can manage, single card for 1080p all the way.

lol, who's everyone? And have they used SLI 680's????

Bro, this is your crazy impulsiveness talking. A few days ago you were talking about the horrors of SLI and how EVERY SLI setup ever built has them. Do you remember that???? Remember those half a dozen SLI setups you've had.

If you're someone who can't see microstuttering in effect I would say sure, go for them, but you already know what it's like.

STAY AWAY BRO, STAY AWAY biggrin.gif

I'm sorry I just cannot agree with that statement. Nothing is future-proof. If it will be future-proof, its going to be for 2, maybe 3 months? And then what? you sell them and get a higher model so then you're future-proofing again...

I'd get one, enjoy the performance, and by the time all the crazy 680 killer games come out, then sell it and get what's future-proof'd at that time tongue.gif

OT though, you bought three. Clearly with the intention of giving two to your friends. I think beyond the logistics surrounding if it'd be worth it or not, the more pertinent issue here is that you don't want to be a ****ty friend.

If you promised to get me one, and then suddenly went back on it for more digital e-peen... Well that's just pretty crappy.

Be a good friend. Then worry about upgrading your hardware. I mean we're all gonna be back here soon enough pining for the next upgrade anyway. Maybe then you'll just buy 4 or 5 biggrin.gif

You said it yourself and the reviews are further proof. @1080, dont bother, put that $200 to a 30" monitor or save and setup 3 monitor gaming, THEN buy that second card WHEN you need it.

Biggest reason I upgraded (besides the fact its been 4 years) is to get away from SLI. Really didn't prove to be as astounding for just single monitor gaming.
You'll need to tri-SLI three GTX 680's or you'll barely be able to play any $50 game at 1080P. You have to spend at least $1500 to play a $50 game, and $500 for a $5 game. That's the rules.

Alright thanks guys. That worked well... Pretty much killed my will to go SLI by reminding me of the headaches it can cause.

My friends will be buying them off me (was cheaper to overnight 3 than to do 3 seperate orders tongue.gif).

Unless you have a 120hz monitor, then no. There isn't a game out there that a single 680 wont be able to max out on a 1080p 60hz monitor. Why drop another $500 for absolutely no gains, greater power draw, more heat, sli issues... ?
