[DM] Google Chrome beats Internet Explorer to become world's top browser for first time ever - Page 16

From the article, lmao:
Quote:
But taken together, all versions of Internet Explorer are still ahead of Google's sleek Chrome browser.
The open-source browser Firefox was widely expected to take Internet Explorer's crown, but recent versions have been bloated and slow.

Anyway did some more research and found this searchenginejournal article:
http://www.searchenginejournal.com/statcounter-chrome-ie-browser/41721/
Quote:
While Chrome and Internet Explorer are experiencing drastic fluctuations in market share depending on if it is a weekday or weekend, the other major browsers do not seem to be substantially influenced by work schedules.

While some critics may argue that the StatCounter statistics and data collection methods are less than perfect, Internet Explorer’s market share has been steadily decreasing for the past several years.

And a link to the actual data that the articles are referring to, which I believe most are interested in seeing biggrin.gif

With keyword searches you get better information in less time, fact is that Chrome's keyword bookmarks are lacking a key feature.

Works fine here if I'm understanding you correctly

There's also the Click&Clean extension for your history problem but I haven't used it myself and it looks like it utilises a NPAPI plugin.

Wow, Chrome and IE damn near mirror each other.

Little stupid to say that Google is beating them at all these services such as Youtube considering Apple don't currently operate a product of that kind.
That's like saying Apple are kicking Googles behinds at producing better computers because of the Mac.

You're right, in my original response I totally forgot about Safari, so I took his statement out of context. doh.gif

No history for privacy reasons.
Keep cookies for saving website settings, logins, etc. pretty obvious to me really.

So... you're worried about someone just getting a look at the pages you've been on, but NOT worried about them just going to sites like Facebook, e-mail providers, and other sites with logins that have your login saved? The other way around or both, I'd understand (you make sure all your cookies are wiped so that no one can log in on your active sessions, but keep your history because you don't really care that they see where you go or wipe both because you want neither).

I personally don't care if Google harvests all of my information as long as they keep providing awesome free services. They can know that I visited overclock.net and reddit every day. That's fine. I even use google+ and no one uses that!

Yeah I've been looking more at the Statcounter numbers...I had no idea Chrome/FF had such a hold in India, compared to US/Canada/China.
For the lols, look at North Korea's numbers, though I have a feeling there's more to that story haha.

That only works because overclock uses search.php?search=searchquery
Doesn't work for forums that use search ID: http://i.imgur.com/tSYCJ.png

I don't care if people mess with my Facebook or forum logins, I do however care if they see everything I've been browsing, do I really need to say it.. businesssmiley.png
