1 GTX 680 or GTX 470 SLI? - Page 4

I already have two GTX 470 stock in SLI with a DELL U3011 (2560x1600) monitor. When I play games like BF3, SWTOR, Crysis 2..., my 470 make a lot of noise and I need to put down the AA to get decent FPS (over 30-40). Do you think I will have better result with a single GTX 680 or I need GTX 680 in SLI at this resolution to have 60+ FPS ? Because my experience whit SLI is not so good because of the flickering I see in most games.

Thank you.

470s can be had for cheap... IMO there is no reason to grab the 680 yet.

As a 3d vision user the extra horsepower is great.

For the money a 470 sli is better.

If I had a 480 it's another matter as 2 480's cost more than 1 680, plus you could sli the 680 later.

As for the console ports yea they suck the life out of pc gaming but luckily many have texture mods and you want the horsepower for those.

i cant wait for the 4gb 680's to come out so i cant replace my sli 470's. they are right on the edge of enough to run 2560x1440. BF3 eats every mb of vram in my sli , and swtor doesnt seem to scale well with sli. also i miss running in fullscreen windowed mode. I got the second 470 to skip the 5xx generation.

Sad that you already bought them and didn't do your research. a GTX 670 is only 5% less than a GTX 680 but when OCed its the same.
You could have bought 2 GTX 670 for 800-900$ with taxes.
