Need advice about cpu upgrades

Hai all, got a gtx 680 on the way and was wondering what you think I should do about processors. I have the 960t at 4ghz atm and its starting to feel very old now, using it with a 580 and it can't even keep up with that. In the tera beta Im getting about 30-50 frames most of the time with only 50 percent gpu usage, crysis 2 with the dlx11 patch and high res textures im only getting 30-40 frames with 70-80 percent usage.

Anways on to the question tongue.gif I already have a gigabyte ud3 motherboard with the bios at 5 so fx ready, its a decent board looks nice got 16/16 sli support etc. So do I grab an fx 8120 and hope for a 4.5ghz OC with my antec 620 kuhler for about £140 or do I get an i5 2500k which I know is the best at gaming but im going to need to grab a motherboard aswell specifically the sabertooh p67 cause it looks awsome =p. Which would come in at more than double the price of just the 8120. I really want the best out of the 580/680, and I hear alot of bad things about fx not even being as good as my 960t.

Will the fx 8120 at atleast 4.5ghz be enough not to hold it back(dont want to use bottlneck as its so overused atm =p).

Is your 960T unlocked?

Upgrading from a 960T to a FX8120 won't yield such a big change I'm afraid. There's deals for $350 for 2500k + motherboard, if you look around

Not to sure if the FX will bottleneck the 680 but I know for sure the 2500K will not bottleneck it. My two 6970's go to 99% usage in crysis 2 with high res pack on my 2500k at 4.3Ghz. Plus if you do the upgrade now you'll already be ready for Ivy Bridge when it comes and won't need a new mobo smile.gif I vote for getting the 2500K smile.gif Good luck man!
