According to studio head Jade Raymond, the new title - rumoured to be called Splinter Cell Retribution - will continue the series' focus on action but also explore one of its overlooked "root themes".
"It will have all of the action flick elements for sure, but we're trying to also explore something a little bit more interesting that is actually one of the themes that's at the root of the franchise historically, but never has been surfaced so much," Raymond told CVG. "I can't really say more on this!"

Im going to have to say it is either Co-Op, or they are going to focus more on stealth.

Yeah I hope they go back to the classic Sam Fisher. I didn't really like Convictions.Though co-op was fun! They were portraying him as if he was Jack bauer. Not that there is anything wrong with 24 but it's not the same protagonist.

Maybe they will bring the wall split leg mount thing mad.gif

Also on the first splintercell you had a gun to your hostages head which kept the enemy from shooting...

They are defiantly focusing more on stealth which was what the original was about. It wasn't going balls out and killing everyone it was just completion based. Also being able to move bodies again would kick butt seeing that it made convictions that much more of a pain in the stealth aspect. But I also think that was the idea of Convictions, to have Sam be as badass as possible because he was aiming to get revenge.

that or a jason bourne. it was OK.. but Chaos Theory was the perfection in the series as far as gameplay, dialogue, sound, music, visuals and story. It was fabulous.

^^^^ This. I had a ton of fun playing Conviction, but it wasn't very stealth based like the rest of the series. Plus they need to bring spies vs mercs back!

"explore something a little bit more interesting that is actually one of the themes that's at the root of the franchise historically, but never has been surfaced so much"

this leads me to believe that its not stealth what they are going to focus upon, since it has been a very big theme throughout the franchise...

i liked conviction, but it just wasnt a splinter cell game, as with many others, i hope they deliver a game much closer to chaos theory.

Funnily enough, I was just reading this on AtomicPC.

Splinter Cell 6 will continue to use “action flick elements”

I actually made a comment there, too.
