GTX 680 SLI enoguh for 120Hz gaming?

Thread Starter
I am getting this monitor for my new build.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001472&Tpk=s27a950d

Will two 680s be enough for gaming on this?

Also, does anyone have a date for the release of EVGA's Hydrocopper series?

That screen is still 1080p and even one 680 might be enough for 120hz as the cards power goes side by side with 6990/590. Bigger pixels might be annoying if you have used to 22-24".

In most games (except for the obvious ones like Metro or BF3). I'm gonna start with 1, and probably SLI when the GK110 comes out. Hopefully, that will cause the 680 to drop in price. Might wait longer if I can approach 120fps with 1.

EVGA said it will be a few months on the 4gb cards and the waterblock cards.
In progress.

I don't know CFX 7970s can keep a solid 120fps on 3x 1080 at medium, i imagine sli 680's could do it on 1 with much higher settings.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I'm about 10 ft away from a 36 inch TV on 1152 x 648 so I don't think I will notice big pixels.

I'm probably just gonna go with SLI.
Gonna wait and see what the non-reference cards are like.

And I'm not exactly sure how this works but, if I get two EVGA cards, and the 4GB HydroCopper ones come out within 3 months, I can pay the difference and get them right?
