Those running the 680s in SLI:

What temps are you getting under idle and load? And do you have a slot free between the cards?

I have a slot free, but the idle temps on my top card get pretty high.

IDLE: Top - 55-60, Bottom - 38-40

LOAD: Top: - 81, Bottom - 79

Use something like EVGA's Precision Tool or whatever to change the fan curve so it speeds up earlier in the process. Mine never goes over 61 degrees under full load, while OC'd to boost@ 1273mhz. and 7008mhz memory.

I should point out that I'm using a 4.8ghz i7 2600k, and a crappy motherboard that only supports SLI in pcie 2.0 8x/8x mode. Instead of 16x. Or...pcie3's 32x. Lol. But even under the 8x/8x condition, I got a performance score of 16715 on my card. If my bandwidth calculations are right, on a pcie 2 16x/16x configuration I'd probably hit around 18-19k. So...yeah. These are nice cards. I recommend you hold off until the 4GB models if you plan on playing anything above 2560x1440 (2gb seems borderline enough at that res). 2560x1600 or any triple monitor setup, you'll want the 4gb cards that will be out soon otherwise you'll have to disable anti-aliasing in your games to have enough memory to run them.

So you got 61 degrees on both cards (680 sli)? Are you sure? What was the fan speed % at during full load?

Sounds crazy to me if it's the default fan settings. I prefer quiet over my cards heating up a little and 78-80 on load has been pretty standard of every review I've come across. I'm just fascinated by how many people have a stacked SLI setup, but have low idle and load temps. Fans must be spinning like crazy.

Yeah I have them run at about 90% if they hit 60 degrees or higher. Manual fan curve setup.Playing BF3 right now at stock non-OC levels, I'm sitting 55 on one card, and 53 on the other. Running everything ultra at 2560x1440, all setting high/maxed/etc....this is with no OC currently, as BF3 hates overclocking.

How did you make the fan to run at 90% speed? I use MSI Afterburner and I set the fan curve to do 60C at 90% fan speed, but it didn't go pass 85% cause that's the max 680 fan speed can go up to. So how did you do it?

I'm using an evga card and did it through evga precision x. You may be right that the fan's speed is limited to 85%. Going full blast can be damaging in the long term. I set the curve for 90% as the app and the curve settings allow it, but haven't tested to see if it actually hits those numbers.

I just got the GTX 680 FTW + Edition yesterday. i got 2 of them in SLI and got a 3dmark11 of 17,005 ,,, my cpu is a I7 980 6 core @ 4.3GHZ.... on a rampage 3 extreme mobo gskill sniper series ram 7-8-7-24....@ 1643 MHZ....my Heaven benchmark score was 230.1 FPS and score was 5797.... these are some smoking fast scores !!! much faster than my GTX 580sc SLI set up ....
