[Build Log] 650 Dominator [3770k, GTX 680 SLi] - Page 7

Nice build man, loving it.
Is your 850W PSU enough to handle 2 680's in SLI w/ some headroom?
Sweet build, we almost have same specs. Personally chose Corsair 16 GB Vengeance Low Profile 1600mhz for LP, black look to go with color scheme, but g skill has some 1866/ 2133 that looks nice too

If you don't actually need 16GB, then don't get it.
However, if you do need it (or just really want it), get two 8GB sticks. The timings will be higher, but you'll be able to overclock you CPU more since there will be less stress on the memory controller. You can also use Intel XMP to get the timings down anyway. Also, there's no need to get anything faster than 1600MHz Cas 9 for an Intel platform unless benching is you're life; there ends up being little to no performance gain from getting RAM faster than what I said earlier.

A 750w can handle a 2600k OC'd with two GTX 580's OC'd. Plenty of headroom for the 680's and 3770k with an 850w. thumb.gif

I actually noticed a tiny difference when i went from 16gb of G.Skill Ripjaws X 2133 (11-11-11-30) to 16gb of mushkin enhanced blackline 1600 (8-8-8-28) so faster isn't always better.. lower cas levels will get you a tiny bit faster system overall.

Definitely enough. Everything needs less powwa! See Samurai's response below, couldn't have said it better:

Both have the same IC's. The Crucial sticks are more expensive because they have lower timings.
