Will anything bottleneck my gpu? - Page 3

-clock 2500k at ~4.5ghz or yes you can bottle neck on many things with max settings at 1920x1200

-dont boot off an hdd if you dont want swap lag in games

-you dont need pcie3 and wont see any performance gains in games for it. only if you were doing SLI for GPGPU maybe tongue.gif

Allow me to add to this discussion that there's no 'magic number' in terms of a cpu overclock that, when it is reached, 'removes your CPU bottleneck entirely, in all cases'.

As you raise your cpu clock, it become decreasingly likely that the CPU will be the limiting factor to performance on any particular frame that's rendered by your system.

But there's no particular speed that is 100% guaranteed to remove ALL CPU BN effect in ALL gaming or testing scenarios.

I'll provide a couple examples to illustrate what I mean ... On 3dMark06, the CPU speed (with a GTX680) you'd need to remove the CPU BN entirely is probably around 15GHz (yes, I mean FIFTEEN wink.gif). On Metro 2033, with all game settings maxed out at 1080p, you could probably remove it entirely at around 2.5GHz.
