[digi tech] Zotac's 2GHz GTX680 coming in mid April - Page 12

drool.gif 2GHz...
There is noway that is possible under normal conditions (water or air). If it is I will shave my head and eat the hair.

I am sure for graphics it would be better to have more cores than clock speed? (I will be hoist i am a bit of a noob when it comes to graphics cards)

wait wait... zotac made a partnership with either asetek or coolit to watercooled block for videocards like 9 months ago. I believe that's what they are doing.
Still 2hgz sounds too high.

Seems too good to be true. If it is true then I bet it's going to cost a fortune tongue.gif

I can't wait for the day when the "4.0 GHz" title refers to GPUs. biggrin.gif

Would that make it awesome for folding?

The german hardware site pcgameshwardware talked to one of Zotacs representatives about the rumours regarding a 2GHz GTX 680.
The guy supposedly confirmed that there will indeed be a 2GHz version but it will only be available in the asian market due to a extremely limited quantity of cherry-picked GPUs.

Oh guys your so silllyyyyyyyyy.... Its the memory that he is talking bout tongue.gif.
Atleaset its a bit more reasonable. We so high ocs of 7000+ghz effective speeds. With proper v and cooling it might hit that speed.

In anycase, a beefier vrm and better cooling with higher TDP limit and v control enabled, 1400 on the core isnt that far.

Tesla, fermi..etc all nvidias gpu have high shader clock speeds, but lacked in everything else. They mastered the mem controler, and probably everything else (hence high clocksppeds). Amd went 800 to 880 to 925..etc Nvidia shooted from 607 to 700 to 770 to 1006(1056). Lets not forget even if keplar is a new arch, it uses the same logic as all other gpus. WHich is that the shader can clock higher than 1000. So oc headroom is there, if the gtx 780 rumur is true, i see more shaders + bigger buss and higher sppeds (or 2:1 ratio back) its do-able. Kinda makes me think how long the gtx 780 would last, since a 6970 can max (not EVERYTHING) 1080p.

Quit trying to hype up the 680 for Nvidia Zotac.
It's already out and it's not impressive.
Although perhaps if you do hit 2ghz it may actually be competitive with high clocked 7970s... rolleyes.gif

Denying the truth doesn't change it. rolleyes.gif

A reference 680 hit 1420mhz on air and was stable.

I find that highly impressive myself.

If air can hit those temps...on a reference design?

Maybe 1600Mhz might be possible with a good water cooling kit. I saw that 1900MHZ with LN2, but 300MHZ less might be possible with water or some incredible air cooler. tongue.gif
