Which SSD to get :) - Page 2

I don't know why..
Crucial M4 - Read (up to) 415MB/s, Write (up to) 175MB/s

That is substantially lower than the other.. eg. Intel 520 - Read (up to) 550MB/s and Write (up to) 500MB/s
Intel, Corsair GT, OCZ Vertex 3 and OCZ Agility 3 seem to be far far above nearly everything else

it the 4k reads that matter, usually denoted in IOPS.. not these sequential R/Ws smile.gif

The highest 4K's are OCZ Vertex 3 and Intel 520. I really don't know why everyone goes for Crucial M4.. It's between $10-$20 cheaper than the OCZ Vertex 3 and Intel 520 and they are almost twice as fast in nearly every spec :S .. I think I must be missing something.

the reason why is about the reliability. sandforce based SSDs had lots of problems before, yeah it's fast but if it keeps on BSOD'ing on you, you won't gonna like it, that's why lots people here chose the m4, it's reliable and won't give you any headache.

but i think the problem has already been fixed, atleast my SSDs are, i have 4 corsair force SSDs, never had any problem

Crucial M4 128GB. I have one myself. It never gave me any problems.

Crucial M4 or Intel 520, if you have the money go for the 520, better warranty wink.gif

Don't let anyone tell you otherwise (unless it's pci-e)

Realiability? The intel 520 have longer warranty, use the same controller, and they are about as reliable as the M4 tongue.gif

They are also newer though.

edit: sorry my bad, they use the sandforce
