(apparent size at ~12 inches away)

I usually hold mine in landscape mode about 5 inches away from my face. I could zoom in but it would slow down my reading since I'd have to continuously scroll over or down.
Ah, I hold it closer for reading... although I can read text at that distance fully zoomed out tongue.gif it's hard though...

Is this for droid pads that are out? If not, then I really don't give a damn about demo units. It is a long way from providing a demo to rolling out a finalized and mass produced product to minimize supply shortages as opposed to any sort of paper launch.

So basically you hold your iPad so far away that its really no bigger than your iPhone? So you use some kind of pointing stick to touch it? I don't think you get the point of having increased screen size. I hold my phone at about 16" inches from my face and have no trouble seeing anything. I would hold a tablet at the same distance. Any farther than that and I'm at full arm extension. Do you know how stupid you would look holding a tablet as far away from your body as you possibly can? Try it.

No, its for the original Droid that came out 8 months before the iPhone 4. I was just pointing out how Apple says the new definition of a "retina" display is 264 PPI, which is lower than that of the original Droid that came out before they ever coined the term "retina" display.

No, no, I only hold the iPad a few inches further than the iPhone, but it's enough. Let's say I did hold it closer, just as I do with my iPhone, the screen will still look phenomenal... it's nice having a high PPI on a small screen, but having it on a large screen is so much better.

Incorrect. Their definition of a retina display is x PPI viewed from x inches results in undistinguishable pixels. They say the average viewing distance for the iPad is a few inches more than the iPhone.
