WIll my CPU be bottlenecked by a Newer Generation Graphics Card?

Thread Starter
I don't know if I worded the title property or not..

System:
Q8300 CPU - 2.5 Ghz
XFX 750i sli MB
Corsair XM2 - 4gb at 800 Mhz
Palit GT 240 1 GB

Thinking about purchasing a ASUS 6850 for 140 CAD after rebate but not sure..

Anyhow I was wondering if my Q8300 quad core CPU will be bottlenecked if I purchase a 6850 (OC for goodness) for gaming at 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 resolutions?

I was looking into overclocking the cpu to 3.2 Ghz or higher but i'm still a NEWBIE at overclocking.

If there of any other price/performace video card out there in the market I should know about, please post in the thread. smile.gif

Thanks
Livitis

Your q8300 shouldn't bottleneck a 6850. You should see a nice performance gain, especially at 1080p.

^ this, however if your planing to CF them then yes you might bottleneck a little bit.
