GeForce GTX 550Ti Not Outputting Display (New Computer)

So, building a computer from scratch, and when I got everything together, it powered on just fine, but no matter which port I plug my monitor to, it's not getting a signal from the video card.

I made sure to pop the 6 pin power cable into the slot on the card, and it's firmly seeded into the PCIe port. Does this card have issues with a fresh system that dosen't even have an OS on it yet?

Wanna figure out as soon as possiable, else I have a very shiny $1000 brick sitting on my desk in place of an older, but working computer, LOL

Here are the links to the items I got on Newegg that I did all the installign for last night. As far as I could tell, everything is compatable (power supply is a 650 watt Corsair, not from Newegg though...)

Case

Motherboard

Ram

I've double checked to make sure everything is compatable with everything else, and all the installing went great, card was a bit sticky going in, but it properly seeded in the slot... just not sure why I can't get even a BIOS display so I can start installing windows.... frown.gif

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!!

edit: Welcome to OCN! smile.gifsmile.gif

It could be a problem with your particular card, it definitely is not a problem of the model, my 550Ti was flawless.
It happens (often lately) that cards are DOA.
Try it in a friend's PC, and if it doesn't boot, RMA smile.gif

Dumb Q, but is your monitor on? Power and DVI cables seated? Monitor not broken? DVI connector not missing pins? smile.gif

Yeah, the monitor and connection are just fine. I literally pulled the connection from the back of my previous setup and put the new tower in its place. Power was turned on, one of the first things I checked, and it was working when I went to power down my previous tower.

If I was looking properly, this particular card is supposed to have a glowing blue LED on it... which I noticed the fans did not power on, neither did the LED, so, DOA ya think?

Was thinking when I get home, try it in another slot on the motherboard... would try it in my old tower, but I don't think it has the same PCIe slot... It may, but if it dosen't I'll prolly look into getting it replaced.

One other thing I was a bit worried about, was when I was getting everything out and ready to put in, I stupidly set my CPU cooler on top of the ram, and a bit of the thermal goo came off. Totally didn't notice it was on there already... used to the old days of having to apply it myself. Would a small amount missing be a potential meltdown situation, or probably ok?

Edit: And thanks for the welcome! Been meaning to join for a while, LOL!

That thermal grease situation can't affect you. Maybe 1-2C worse CPU load temps, nothing fatal or worth worrying about. smile.gif
Try that other slot, maybe a dead PCI-E, also common.
If the fans don't spin on the othe slot as well, then DOA definitely.

Either way, I can't see NewEgg.com giving me too many issues replaving it if it is DOA. Just sad when everything didn't pop right up and work like the last time I built a comp... then again, last time I got everything locally instead of via the internet, lol.
