34A vs 40A

Thread Starter
Hi, I have a quick question

I'm finalizing my new rig and I decided to get a ASUS HD 6770. My PSU is a Corsair CX500.

The GPU has a recommended system requirement of 500w with 40A for the 12V plug but my PSU only as 34A.

Since I won't OC my GPU can I keep this PSU ?

Tks

PS : This is mostly used for photo processing but I might do some gaming on it.

You will be perfectly fine even with OCing. I would, however, recommended a quality 400-500 watt PSU from here.

CX500 is kinda okay. Don't actually load it up to 500W on a modern system because the +12V amount is pretty low, but it's reasonable. The CX V2 is a bit stronger, but the original isn't exactly a bad unit. You're not going to top 250W draw with that system, so it's fine.
