My RAM is killing my graphics performance

Thread Starter
So I've been having this issue with my sig rig. Currently running my RAM at 1333. Everything's fine. If I try to push it to 1600 by, e.g. switching on XMP, my graphics performance tumbles (e.g. my 3dmark vantage score plummets.)

Any ideas on why this is happening? I ask because I'm looking to upgrade my RAM, and there's no reason to shell for RAM rated at 1600 if I can't run it at that.

Currently considering these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428 (costs only 4 dollars more than buying matching 2 x 2 set of what I already own, and I figure 2 x 4 is better than 4 x 2)

Thanks!

It doesn't.

XMP isn't some magical "make my ram run faster" setting. Its simply a non-JEDEC standard. OP likely enabled the XMP profile and didn't notice that it altered his CPU multiplier or bus speed, dropping his CPU clock.

My intel spec sheet, the processor is rated for 1066/1333.
The voltage of that RAM may be too high too.
