Just unlocked a 960T and have a question....

I have a 960T for the HTPC at my house and decided to try to unlock it using the unlock switch in the Asus M5A88-M. As soon as it posts it says 6 cores unlocked. I ran CPU-Id and it shows 6 cores. I noticed it says max TDP 161w. Is that just the max TDP it can safetly run or is that the TDP is running at. I believe my motherboard has a max TDP of 145w.

Also would an overnight prime95 run let me know if it is stable or not? I plan to OC it a bit if it is stable once I make some mods to the case for better cooling.

Ignore the TDP value. CPU-Z attempts to make some kind of guess of your CPUs TDP, but in my experience it is often very wrong.

that's how it is. bring it back to stock and it will show 107w not 95 (+12W). with C&Q it goes down to 71W.

don't overclock like crazy with that motherboard - your mosfets do not any HS.

like the Dr. says, everything is fine.

I plan to OC as much as I can w/o upping the voltage which might not be that much. I'm using Silverstone HTPC case and can't use big cpu cooler, but I'm using one better than stock. I still gotta find out some overclocking guides since i'ts been a long time I don't OC anything AMD related.

i've seen some just up the multiplier as a quad and reach 3.7 at stock.

as a hex you may have to bump it up to 1.37v. not sure. 4GHz and below you can keep C&Q enabled but you have to turn off Turbo, HT, Turbo V (if available), and C1E. others may have different settings.
