Considering buying this logitech 5.1 system, should I use optical connection or analog out of the mobo?

Im really interested in buying this speaker set, but Im wondering which connection on my mobo's onboard audio will give the best quality, or will there be no difference? I can either do the black, green, and orange connections with 1/4 " cables out of the mobo and into the reciever, or I can do one optical cable. Which is better?

i dont see why not just before you mount these expesive wires do like a test run on a spare peice of wood and make sure the mounts are sturdy

and what speaker wire are you planning to buy with it?

What is your budget? In the USA perhaps used on Craiglist for cheap DD/DTS AVR and seperates? Send optical/coaxial out from mobo to AVR to leverage on it's DAC wink.gif

well i am assuming you are going to mount the speakers on the four corners of your room so there may not be sufficient wire to reach all the way around if the room is large

Yea but I can just splice some new wire in so Im not worried about that. Its a small spare bedroom so the stock wire lengths might actually work. I plan on mounting the rear ones about chest level and the front will be on the corners of the desk or just outside of that.
