680 Overclocking (Calling all owners!) - Page 64

The majority of complaints are "QQ I can only reach +xx offset!", which usually results in a respectable boost over the stock base clock regardless. Hell, the OP and first 30 or so pages of the thread are dedicated to the fact that he could "only hit 1200MHz". Which, as I said, is +200 over stock and a laughable complaint.

As for me, I see that as a pretty damn good OC.. with some people being able to push 1400MHz on air. With Kingpin being under 50MHz away from hitting 2000.

If that's your definition a "problem", then okay thumb.gif

I am going to have to agree with Celeras. For the most part the overclocks seem just fine to me. Sure there are some people getting a few under-performers here and there, but that is just what happens when you play the silicon lottery. wink.gif

The level of modification for that speed from kingpin makes it mostly irrelevant in this conversation, even for oc.net enthusiasts lol.

Anyway, the bulk of frustration, from what I've read, comes from the decision to lock down and limit voltage.

Not to be a party pooper, but you're all making me antsy for new drivers.

Can we have this conversation after a few driver revs? smile.gif

Well that's interesting:
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/301.24/301.24-win7-winvista-desktop-release-notes.pdf

No changes or new known issues listed for the 600 series.

So other than stealth changes, it looks like the only thing they did is make a unified set based on 301.10 maybe.

It does seem to be that way. Kind of weak if true.

I was hoping for a: unlocked voltage control or fixed auto-downclocking at 70C and 80C. biggrin.gif

I totally agree also. Everyone seem to expect new gpus to recieve atleast 40% OC after 7970 overclocks.
My GTX is so far running 1240mhz Core and 6750 Mem clocks. Just finished 5 hour gaming session. BF3 @ 6000x1080 High, so i guess it's pretty stable also thumb.gif
I haven't tried Oc'ing Mem higher than that, but I'm happy so far. I'm still thinking if watercooling my card could give me some mhz more.. wink.gif

I really haven't found any info/review about overclocking differences with Air vs Water on same card.. maybe i'm just blind.
My temps run around 67-72c in BF3 with 75% fan.
