Lame.

Perhaps the benifit from the extra PWM is the ability to keep the GPU cooler and in turn may yield higher OC is what I'm gathering.

It would stupid to make 8-pin + 6-pin cards which were also limited to 1175mV.

I am quite sure they will unlock voltage control for those cards sooner or later, they're just a day old. thumb.gif

Yah I know and better power delivery can give better results but still. Is it even possible to unlock voltage with these or is it locked in hardware.

On a side note my card is pissing me off. I took the antec 620 off of it and went back to air. Now heaven keeps crashing at 1199. Even though the temp was at 64c.

I agree. I'm positive Nvidia is being conservative with thier voltage limit.

After the fiasco on the reference 570's last year they are being pro-active in not having anymore fried cards this time around.

I'm not crashing until I hit 70C. In gaming these cards shine. In the benchmark area if it's not pegged at full core potential (which can vary card to card) we're not scoring as well as the cards potential.

Even if they can't unlock voltage at the very least they should allow us the option to disable GPU Boost so we can find our own max target. I know that during a bench run though my max core tells me 1227 MHz, I wasn't pegged that high the whole way through.

Where as when I play BF3 or Crysis for testing full specs I hit 1254 MHz core clock.

If GPU boost were disabled I can push 1254 MHz 24/7 even with the 1.175v limit. I'd be much happier.

Gaming these cards have some great features. My minimum FPS is higher than some crossfire/sli dual GPU set ups I'm noticing comparing to 6970's and 580's minimum FPS performance. Kudos for that during dips it's not as low and really has made very fluid butter smooth gaming even maxed out.

Same voltage limit and same tdp limit??? Why?

I guess since the card is new, probably will have higher tdp in future evga X version.

I used to own the stock version of the 680 and I had higher offsets, a lot more than I do with the SC version where it seems like I can't go as high on offsets, but get greater performance with GPU boosts.
Wired but you'd think I'd get higher offsets with the SC but in the end it dosent matter because it still gets a tad higher boost than my vanilla flavor did.
I'm pretty sure that your offset only applies to GPU boost and not your stock clock. I think all stock clocks are the same, but it's the boost that is different. The SC versions have a higher preset boost then most regular versions.
Basically, the offsets don't matter. Your final boost is what matters and your SC version is higher. thumb.gif

Actually, using offset bumps up your stock clock, which is then boosted to whatever your card is capable of. Try it out and check GPU-Z. +100 offset gives you a new default of 1106MHz, which you will then boost of off.

Like what we have observed and tested. +100 offset will not automatically give you 1106Mhz. Like mine +50 hits 1119Mhz at some point.

Yes I am very happy with the minimum FPS in BF3. My 580 would dip to the low 40's. THis thing never goes below 60. And is normally well above it.

I don't see a big variance in my boost clock though. Whatever I set it at it seems to sit there. Weather its heaven or BF3. My core jumps to 1195 and is stuck there.

I'm sure the voltage thing also has a lot to do with 28nm. Seems to be more heat sensitive and probably voltage sensitive.

Mine did dip low 50s FPS on 1440p. Well because I like playing at Ultra.
