680 Overclocking (Calling all owners!) - Page 87

post #861 of 1056
Here's my clock at stock voltage. I got highest core clock at 1320Mhz with +210 offset. I ran 3 loops of Heaven and 20 mins of furmark all with highest settings. Also, played some games for stability test.

EVGA GTX 680- 1320MHz

496
700

It's water cooled so I get 26C idle temp and 43C maximum temp.

hi all!

been reading this thread with interest and making a few experiments myself.

Managed to get around 1500 on Unigine consistently last week which I was happy with.

GPU offset 155
mem:400

The really strange this is I have just run the test again with the exact same setting and I am not getting far worse performance. Resulting in 1100 score in Unigine. I have the exact same settings, same driver and same overclock but now get far worse results.

My core clock speed is still hitting the same mark after boost which is1279 Mhz.but the score is no near so good

Anyone got any ideas why my score is now much worse? I hope I didn't damage the card in any way ... THanks for any input here ...

thanks Teichu.

After playing BF3 then I am also still getting the same FPS as last week so I am not terribly worried ... as in the end the game performance is all that matters (to most of us, at least).

Ran Unigine at stock again last night and got a score of ~1150 then clocked it up and got a score somewhere in the ~1200. The only thing I can think of for the reason that I managed to get a score of ~1500+ in Unigine before was that I may have changed 1 or 2 of the settings directly on the Nvidia software. Could this have an effect on the score overall? I can't remember what I changed but maybe this has resulted in a lower score somehow ... could this be possible?

One final point, I noticed that if I up the voltage and take the clock a bit higher then I start to get lowers scores (whilst the temp remains below 70C) than i did with a lower overclock. Any idea why this happens? My fastest clocks are only really possible on stock voltage.

OK , do you have vsync off in control panel?? and also i dont think tweak voltage can give you better result , because i have encounter tweak higher voltage it actually gaves me lower performance , so i just leave everything default but what i am suggest is you can try to turn off vsync off and run it again see if you get different result and also whats your power target?? cpu usuage stays 99% always while you running heaven?

@Brownie-uk7

I think what you have done is ran Heaven in different screen res or tess on off. With my card overclocked to 1337Mhz on the core in heaven (everything on max 1080) will only hit just over 1300 points. I think you will find this a very high score for these settings, so how your expecting to hit 1500 at stock clocks i dont know.
338

If however i run it at 1680x1050 as the top 30 bench thread asks i then just hit the 1500 mark again with my OC @1337.
Although it has never been added to the list in the top 30 heaven runs it is infact the fastest single 680 on that thread. (one other person DimmyK got the exact same score as me @1327Mhz) So again i do not understand you expecting or getting 1500 heaven points.

The reason your getting worse results is forcing a constant voltage heats up the VRAM faster and no points to allow it to cool down during less demanding areas where normally voltage would decrease in unison with dynamic down over clocking.

In these cases where higher voltage would be applied a higher fan setting would be benificial in keeping things cooled down. Whether manually higher fan settings or a higher constant fan settings would aliviate the extra voltage.

So yes a little more voltage bump would allow for better results with our dynamic over / down clocking feature of auto boost as long as a more aggressive fan setting would be required IMO.

@jadeface - everyone on the Heaven benchmark thread is using 1680x1050 resolution. If you do decide to go over to the benching contest. I believe you knew that I just wanted to point that out to others if they do decide to go over and compete.

+225/500
card boost to 1325 , pretty sure i can get higher too. temp stayed at 63 with fan at 75%.

funny thing is i change power to +30 but power% only went up to 104, when i leave power at stockit goes up to 117%what is up with that?
post #870 of 1056
@Arizonian

I ran @1080 before i knew about the top 30 thread. Then once i found out about the top 30 thats when i did the bench at CDMAN's settings.
But what i am saying is, he is expecting to hit 1500 points in heaven at stock clocks. Look at my results with a massive OC. Unless he is running a low res or no AA/tess... it isn't going to happen. So the reason his scores are low, is he must of not had something turned on or up the first time he ran it.
