Man 680's overclock for crap in SLI. I am down to 120 MHz below my single GPU core clock just in order to get the cards not to crash in BF3. eek.gif

I remember my 7970's being much closer to their max single GPU speed's in crossfire. Wonder why the 680's are so shoddy while overclocking in SLI

If you've got to down clock Core to stay stable, I'd take that as an indication that perhaps one of your cards might be bad? Guess you'd have to test individually.

I'd look into possible RMA if the above were to be true.

Hello chaps,

I posted here a few weeks ago asking for help as I am not getting the kind of score in Unigine benchmarks I would expect. It seems I get an excellent overclock on this card with a stable +150 on the clock and +400 on the memory clock. On BF3 I can play on ultra with adaptive V-synch on and it never drops below 60 FPS unless really heavy explosions going on in Karkand map pack. Only then it may drop to low 50s for a couple of seconds.

So, I am obviously very happy with this however when I benchmark in Unigine then I seem to be getting far lower scores in comparison to other with a similar set up. I am pretty sure my CPU is not bottle necking so can anyone give me any tips on what might be causing me to get significantly lower Unigine score compared to the majority of others?

Unigine score = 1250

GPU
overclock = 1275 MHZ
Memory +400 (sorry cant remember actual figure as I am at work ... obviously working hard!)

Intel Core i7-3770K, 4x 4.00GHz
Netzteil Cooler Master GX Series 80PLUS Bronze 650W
2x4 GB RAM Kingston DDR-3 PC1333 (2 Module)
1TB HDD Hitachi SATA-3
MSI Z77A-G43, Z77 (dual PC3-12800U DDR3) (7758-010R)

Windows 7 64 bit

Thanks for any help for a noob that needs it.

Naw, they both run 1300+ MHz fine on their own. What are the highest you guys are getting with SLI 680's in BF3 without crashing?

One thing, as you are playing BF3 with Vsync this may not tell you if your card is actually stable. Many people are so called stable in 3D mark and Heaven then find out BF3 will crash. Because you are using Vsync your card is may not be hitting your max OC long enough in game to crash out.

That heaven score is at what settings?

The Unigine score was at the Top 30 Thread settings ... This was the first attempt and it got an even lower score before I fiddled with some Nvidia control panel options ...

Regarding the V-Synch, actually I only turned this on the other day and have had 2-3 weeks running at that overclock with it off and didn't have any crashes so I think its pretty stable.

I just can't figure out why my Heaven score is so low ...

Is there maybe some setting on Nvidia Control panel that I should have?

Yeah that does seem to be a low score for those clocks at those settings.
Are you on 3.01.10 or one of the Beta's?
I would try setting everything in Nvidia control panel to Default then run Heaven, then clocks to Default and run Heaven.
I assume you are going over the 70C temp on the GPU? Although this only takes off 13Mhz i believe.

So i reset NVIDIA to defaults and ran again but with the same result. A score of 1250 on heaven with oc. I also ran without the oc and I got around 1060.

It's not that 1250 is a bad score but with a good overclock on the card I was hoping for more like 1400 as others with similar setups seem to get at least that.

Could the motherboard have any affect here? I have the pci 2.0 not 3.0 if that makes any difference ... Or maybe my card simply doesn't perform as well as it should despite the high overclock ...
