Thread Starter
i know this has been asked countless times but i coudn't find a spcific answer
if i hypothetically had a quad sli system how would you connect 6 monitors

i have heard you need to get another card not in sli and use that and whole bunch of random set ups

thanks in advance

To my knowledge in theory you can hook up 6 monitors in tri sli.

SLI doesn't work the same way in surround set ups.

For example I personally run a 3 monitor set up on 2 cards.

When using surround I can use all three and while it utilizes both cards it isn't true SLI. But if I want true SLI performance I have to enable sli and then it goes to only 2 monitors working while the game plays on just one monitor.

You can have SLI or Surround but not technically at the same time.

You can't have both at the same time. It's an either or kind of thing.

In nvidia control panel it lets you turn on one at a time.

But to be honest I found 6 monitors very uncomfortable. 3 improves your field of view where as 6 just makes a really large high resolution display. When I want that I just plug into my 55 inch lcd TV. the image is the same even though the resolution might be less. You can't tell the difference as much as you might think because of the distance you have to sit away from the screens to not feel assaulted by closeness of the image. At 6 feet away you'd be surprised at how similar 1080p looks in comparison to 6 screens,

With 6 monitors all the important areas are covered with bezels. your cross hair and everything in the "rule of thirds" quadrants are all missing behind bezels.

yeah you can adjust for the bezels so that it renders like it is rendering behind the bezels but that stil doesn't stop your crosshair from ending up right in between 2 monitors.

not sure about quad SLI and 6x Monitors, but 3x SLI and 3 Monitors, I am able to use surround + 3 way SLI at the same time.. The two negative I see in this is my task bar is WIDE, left monitor drag all the way through the middle and end on the far right of my right monitor, another user here has manage to get pass this by using Aston Start Menu... I didnt like it much when I tried it for 30 Days trail, perhaps I'll give it another go in the future..

The other is the way windows snap and expands when maximizing, very annoying when you want to maximize and it stretches across all 3 monitors, this can be solved relatively easy with Matrox Triple Head to Go software, hardware not required... You can then use desktop divider and it'll act as if you have 3 or 6 in your case completely separate monitors all acting as single inputs.

Thanks for this info, I had been trying to figure out if there was a way to do this for my triple monitor setup!
