Alright, so, long story short:

I have a GA-Z68XP-UD4 with an i5 2500K at 4.5GHz, but I can't use offset voltages because I can't apply LLC with offset, so I'm forced to set a permanent 1.355v in BIOS, since if I use offset, under moderate loads on single cores the voltage goes over 1.42v and then down to 1.36v under heavy loading for all cores.

Is there some way to get LLC with offset on this board? Or am I just stuck with higher voltages all-round for lower voltages at moderate loads?

Like I said, if I do that, I end up with 1.42v with a single thread loaded because of the vDroop when all 4 cores become loaded. I was hoping for a way to avoid that spike with offset voltage. redface.gif

LLC is overrated in my opinion. 1.42 V is fine.

Yeah, I know the spike probably isn't too bad. But as I fond out when I tried to switch to offset, those settings weren't actually stable. It ends up with voltages near 1.45v under light loads with offset. Do you guys think that having those voltages with offset is worth it for the lower idle power? Or would it be better to just have it at 1.36v all the time with a fixed voltage? I know that 1.45v is technically safe; I'm just not sure if I prefer the lower idle voltages, or the lower voltages under light load; since my computer is almost always under light loads.

idle voltage doesn't cause much damage when compared to the affects of load voltage. it will raise idle power consumption a few W, maybe 5W per each .1v or somthing.

I think I'll just leave it with the higher idle. I'm often watching Flash movies and such which use enough of the CPU time to knock it out of it's low power state. rolleyes.gif

i mean as long as its not too high like 1.45v it should be fine.
