ASUS P5VDC-X with intel 945 cpu HELP!!!

Thread Starter
I recently purchased a asus p5vdc-x mobo and a 945 intel cpu(3.4ghz) i got it to overlclock to 4.11 with no prob after upgrading the cooling to a zalman 9500, i got a ucode error from the mobo not knowing total information from or on the cpu so sus told me to update BIOS i did, and ever since i did if i overclock in the smallest bit even 5%, i got an error from the SATA drive unable to boot windows, the computer boots up and i can get into bios, but windows will not load.

Also if someone does in fact have the answer, my next question is, i got it to run before at 4.11 and my cpu temp still never goes above 30 degrees (with two senors, only off a few tenths if a degree), so how can i get more out of it.

Mobo : Asus P5VDC-X
CPU: Intel 945 3.4 Ghz
RAM: Gigaram DDR400 2GB
HD: WD 300 GB 8MB cache
VC: Nvidia 7800gt

You can always go back to the other bios you where using before and see what happens, as for your second question you could always lap your cpu and heatsink but it will void warranty!

Well I can tell you the value based hybrid board and value ram are probably the reason for not getting very far on the overclock. You should look into either a better board or some faster ram in the DDR2 area, like DDR2-667 or DDR2-800. ALso what PSU are you using?
Ucode error is a bug I believe as Ive had it on mine sunce day one and have seen many reports of the same thing with no for sure explination, however it doesnt effect performance in the least so I dont worry about it.

hi. i have pD 945...asus p5vdc-x motherboard...2x512 667mhz ddr2...
When booting up the PC for the first time I received the error: Intel ucode CPU Loading error. i've upgraded bios...version 0601...now that error appears but not each time...i can't install winXP...while installing it pc restarts...and what is interesting that it restarts in different places...

updating the bios to latest version should fix this problem. it did for me on the exact same mobo with 915 however, for overclocking i have now found ths motherboard is basc\\ically crap with it's VIA PT880 mobo. also about temps... my tmps are supiciously low as well. this mobo is jikky jane
