Glad you think your opinion is relevant.

GOTY means absolutely nothing. This isn't the Nobel Peace Prize or an Academy Award. It's a random non-standardized award given by random magazines and publications.

Interplay, due to their own incompetence going public, is the only one to blame here. They would have sold the rights to Fallout to anybody when things got bad.
Bethesda took what was a niche game and made it game of the year. Something Interplay could have never done.

HORSE S.... Interplay's Black Isle Studios was BIG KING DADDY you're gonna by my....

They developed and published the following

Fallout (1997)
Fallout 2 (1998)
Planescape: Torment (1999)
Icewind Dale (2000)
Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter (2001)
Icewind Dale: Heart of Winter - Trials of the Luremaster (2001)
Icewind Dale II (2002)
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II (2004)

[edit] Published

Baldur's Gate (1998)
Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast (1999)
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (2000)
Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal (2001)
Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader (2003)

ALL
Were high scoring and well received with critics with the exception of lionhart. Niche my buttox. It was a cRPG series which they TOOK from RPG fans and made for the FPS fans. I remember when Fo3 was in development and was constantly in the NMA news feed, i remember some one from Bethesda COMPLAINING about people asking for an isometric game soo much that he just said in the interview for people to stop asking.

That there tells me the fan base was there even then long before the wasteland 2 kickstarter. a paying fan base since W2 kick starter just broke 2 million not very recently. for those of you BORN in the late 90s, fallout was the spiritual successor to waste;and because they didn't have the rights to a wasteland 2 back then.

Interplay in the this day and age couldn't make good game like that but, InXile and Obsidian COULD and are if wasteland 2 breaks 2.1 mill.

So don't give me that load of crap. they could made some brother hood of steel FPS instead on FO3 and NewVegas, which WAS actually done before.

EDIT: Your precious Fallout Of Duty wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Dungeon and Dragons aka Pen and Paper. Same for your beloved Shadow Run FPS from 07'.

Ah, but does anyone know that Interplay actually stopped development on a Fallout game once Beth got the development rights leaving them out cold (to be fair, Interplay DID have that license for awhile and didn't drop anything after 2, but a 3 was rumored to be in the works. They were doin something, WHAT is the question as Fallout3 sucked up alotta money).

So Interplay said "It's ours, WE MADE IT!", but Atari (i think it was Atari.. who owned Fallout Trademark and Copyrights back in those days?) was like "Nah homie, we're given it to Beth. Give it a Oblivion feel to it and bring Fallout universe to the 21st century.". Interplay was like aight.. I'll just drop an MMO on your candy asses, you don't own that do ya!

Then Interplay learned they would have to give Beth royalties over the brand. So Interplay decided.. to just sit on it. Hell, Interplay has been shopping for a damn developer for Fallout 3 for years! Bethesada really wanted to uh, "touch" Fallout and after Oblivion what are you going to say.. No?

And considering they immediately OUTSOURCED New Vegas to a 3rd party.. *breathes deeply* "The force is strong in this one, yes"

I have a friend that really enjoyed the older fallout series when they were released, he "liked" FO3 but still preferred the older ones over it. However he felt that New Vegas kind of brought more of the character that the older ones had so I was going to try it out...

OCN doesnt seem too happy lately :/

LEAVE INTERPLAY ALONE!

I don't want them getting butthurt and abandoning Descent 4.

That's how I feel. NV felt more like FO3 than FO3 did. I didn't hate FO3 by any means but I would have much rather have Van Buren. The fact that there won't be a Fallout MMO makes me slightly depressed.
