I may have posted this in the wrong board, if so I apologize. I read each category board, and I wasn't sure which one it would fit into as far as my question goes.

If this is the wrong category for my question, please let me know which one it would fit in so I know for future reference. Thanks!

i recently switched cases and ive been having this very annoying problem that i have no idea whats causing it, Well my problem is that my computer is acting weird.. when i put in all 4 memory sticks it wont boot instead it well freeze at the Asus screen and wont send any energy to my mouse or keyboard.. so they are off from the start. but when i remove the first ram from the 4 slots and only leave 3 it seems to boot fine. with the exception that it well automaticly make my rams run at 1333 instead of 1600.. i dont know whats wrong ive never encountered this problem if futher info is require as to what board and stuff im using il answer right away

maybe bad 1st memory slot? You should fill out your comp specs in rigbuilder...provide details ..look @ mine..then add rig to signature text.

try memtest 86+ write it on a cd or floppy and run it on the first RAm which you insert if you got error that means its a faulty and if it passes that means the mother RAM slot is faulty redface.gif here are some steps how to do it
  1. remove all the RAMs
  2. insert the problematic RAm in the second slot run the Dos version of memtest 86+ for more then 2 round or so
  3. do this with all 4 rams stick by doing this you will know which RAm is faulty
  4. if all Rams pass then just insert any ram into the first slot and run if it gives errors or does not boot the slot is having problems

Hope that helped thumb.gif

ive managed to make my computer boot with all the rams they all seem to go thru with no problem the problem begins when i have 4 mounted, but i can try any 3 with no problem i can put 2 on the first 2 slots and it works i can put 3 without using the first slot and it works but when itry all together it wont

i just sent somebody to buy me a cd to burn the memtest thing and see what happens

but ive tried all the rams in all the slots and they all seem to go thru the problem is when i connect all of them
