Anyone have Bactrack on a personal site/server?

Thread Starter
I've been trying to get backtrack mailed out to my on disk, however, this has proved to be too unreliable. Our mail keeps getting stolen or miss sent, and I don't know if my non technical g/f back home even really knows what I'm asking her to download for me. I also can't visit sites like remote-exploit or backtrack-linux due to the policies on this network. I also can't visit ANY type of downloading site. This makes for some tricky work around sometimes to get the software or updates needed. Also, my internet connection reminds me of back in the day when I used to connect with a 14.4 modem.

This forum has hooked me up before with a request for a VPN download ( which sad to say, never really worked for me out here), so I was hoping someone out there might be able to help me out. I just want it to follow along in a book I'm reading. I am trying to get more into the security field and would like to learn because I got nothing but time it seems.

Thanks from Afghanistan.

Well here's a direct link to one of their mirrors -> http://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/backtrack/BT5R2-GNOME-32.iso

I still think it would be easier to download a normal linux distro and install the tools you need from their repo's. And if downloading stuff there is that hard then any road you choose will be a bumpy one.

Good to hear thumb.gif

But according to google, (32 (kb / s)) * 12 hours = 168.75 megabytes mad.gif

Would take several days at that...

Incase you want some other options of sizes, here's my more current list that I have laying around so you can get an idea on file sizes,

375

Yeah, I just hit another snag on getting this. According to the current bluecoat policy, I have a max bandwidth limit of 2gigs per month. So there is no way I can. If I exceed the limit, I loose my account for a week for the fist offence.

Thank you for the help you guys!

Joshd- Yeah, I know its sucking out here when it comes to internet. But we are on a small FOB in SW Afghanistan, the whole FOB uses one dish to communicate out. So we have quite the bottleneck. But I only have just under 6 months left, then its back to good ol' USofA and some decent bandwidth

Shark - Hey man, thanks for the list of stuff. But I think the only way I can get it is if someone downloads it and burns it to disk, then mails it to me. (which because of where we are, mail will take about 3 weeks)

Thanks for all your guys' help!

Are you in the army? If so I could download it for free, and mail it to you for free (that is if you are in the army?)
