3x23" or 1-30"

Thread Starter
i am planning on upgrading my gpu and monitor situation. i am looking into either 3x of these in portrait http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001430 or the single 30" dell. main purpose for this is gaming and normal everyday usage. mainly into racing titles(building a sim rig) and also recently got hooked on skyrim. not really into bf3 or the other mp shooters. what would you guys do?

The only thing about those Samsung monitors is they seem to have a quite high refresh rate (8ms gtg) which you may not like if you're going to be playing racing games.

Do splits between the screens bother you?
Are you trying to save money?

I was going to buy three 24" 1200P monitors but after using an Eye-finity setup to play Dirt 3 at an electronics expo I am glad I went with my 30".
It's really all personal preference.

You should find a location where you can see it in person to judge for yourself.
The world and games haven't really caught up with large scale resolutions fully but when done right it can be quite awesome.

2560 x 1600 is badass though, if only they made a 120hz 1600p panel!
You will need extensive/respectable GPU performance either way, your CPU should be ok.

i have experienced mulit-screen before. i had 3x22 although not all matching. i was able to run a few sim racing titles with softh and enjoyed the experience. the ultra thin bezel should be an even better experience...

iRacing in portrait would personally lose the huge advantage of more width in view.

I would just go with 5x DELL U2312HM in portrait for that price wink.gif - well I did actually. If I would start assembling my screens today, however, I would probably go with 3x eBay Catleaps (or similar) which go approx 400 - 450$ a piece and are 2560x1440 e-IPS glossy screens. Most versions are dual link DVI but I think that for a small premium a displayport input was option as well.

The bezels on these DELL's are not that bad, about 13 mm.

imo...single 30 inch is too big... i rather have a single 27 IPS monitor... with the big resolution...

If it was me, id go with the single 30" panel.
then you don't have bezel in between, and that weird stretching.
