What I meant was that everything other than the motherboard and CPU will definitely be compatible with a future trinity/ivy bridge build, so will just swap them out (mobo + cpu) and sell them off if i plan on doing the upgrade.

I will see wink.gif, I am a newb at overclocking but I bought the 3870K with the intention of having a play around at some point. I will probably have to upgrade from the stock cooler if I do though.

Yes the MObo is fine for the 3870. I was referring to the comment about upgrading to Trinity at a later time which requires a different socket.

They do overclock quite well. The Graphics can be boosted by adding a low 6550/6650 discrete card for Hybrid SLI. Will game ok at medium settings.

There will be a 180mm fan blowing directly onto the cpu heatsink so generally the system cooling should be quite good, hopefully ill have a decent chip that wont get too hot (fingers crossed).

Anyway thanks guys, its pretty late here so going to bed now, night.

then Id say go for the H80 its water cooling and dosent use much space and peforms as well as the very high end air cooler and use less space

Im guessing since he said he would use stock cooling "for now" that he intends to OC in the future and upgrade the cooling then
