Please help with my BF3 issues

Thread Starter
Sorry everyone I know this has been posted so many times but I cant for the life of me get rid of these problems. Basically im playing BF3 about 20 mins into game then bang gane crashes and windows shows a "display driver stopped responding" message. I then have to close BF3 and start over. Ive tried using 268.5x drivers, 285? and even the latest 296 drivers for my gtx 570, but im still getting these problems, below is screenshot of the message I just got now, this is a first.

214

How do I stop these errors? My gpu is stock when playing BF3 so whys it still crashing like this? Please dont post if your going to say "its just part of the game" as if thats ture BF3 is the ONLY game ive ever had this much trouble with thats considered 'normal'.

Please help folks, im at my wits end.

I believe this is because your graphics driver is running out of memory.

You can allow it to use more by adding more virtual memory, just do a search on google and it will tell you how to add more virtual memory. Another fix is to lower your graphics settings, but obviously this isn't what you want to do, so just add some more virtual memory.

Try lowering your graphics settings first and see if it does it. If it does then you know the problem is a memory issue.

Please help folks, im at my wits end.

1. Reinstall Direct X would be the first fix

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=35

2. Un install all Nvidia drivers including HD Audio, Update, System monitor, Physx etc, run driver sweeper in safe mode and then run CCleaner registry cleaner and then reinstall the latest non beta driver

http://phyxion.net/item/driver-sweeper.html
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

3. Set virtual memory to 10gb
- right click my computer
-properties
-advanced system settings on the bottom left
-advanced tab and then performance
-advanced tab of performance options
-virtual memory
-custom size
initial size(mb) 10000
maximum size (mb 10000
-set and restart

4. if this all fails try flashing the GPU Bios with the latest one from PNY

All i can think of, if this doesn't work im guessing a fresh install of windows on another hard drive would do the trick

Doing that is so unnecessary.

So this is happening because my gpu is running out of memory? Is that confirmed to be the issue? Even though it has 1.25gb worth of memory its still running out?

What does changing amount of virtual memory actually do?

Changing virtual memory will allow it to cache stuff to the HDD as well. Not sure if this is the "confirmed" problem but it seems to be correct. I managed to fix this issue by increasing virtual memory and I have suggested this fix to others and it has helped them, so hopefully we are right and it is a memory leak.

Not trying to jack the thread or anything. The OP may feel free to ignore this.

I have a 1GB GTX460 SE and I play the game at 1080p, 0xAA but with everything on Ultra. Page filing is turned off on my PC. How is it that I don't get this error but a GTX570 user is getting this error?
