please help me reduce micro stutter!

Thread Starter
I currently have two reference model pny xlr8 gtx 560ti's in a sli configuration. I want to know how i can reduce or eliminate micro stutter when playing games or even benchmarking. Should i ovclock the crap out of the cards, try different drivers? Any help from my fellow ocn family would be great and will get you reps. Thank you.

Everything in my sig rig is current.

There is nothing in your sig... Yeah try OCing them and see if you notice any performance increase, but if not then I would try different drivers and things along those lines.

What games does it do it most on? Your CPU could be bottlenecking the two cards or it could be the SLI bridge.

Oh, if he means tearing then you can just reduce your FPS by using Vsync.

http://www.lucashale.com/timer-resolution/ did the trick for me
it starts on boot and hidden on all my PCs
in conjunction with this, setting "bcdedit /set useplatformclock true" worked best for me to reduce DPC latency

a lot of the tips here aren't snake oil, though some may be

free snake oil isn't so bad, i suppose

Thanks guys!

My sig rig is gone!?

2500k @4.4ghz
Asus p8p67 pro 3.1
8 gb Dominator 1600mhz cl9
2x PNY 560ti
Intel 320 80gb sad
Corsair ax850
Nzxt phantom case

So there is no bottlenecks inmy rig other than the two 560ti's 1gb of vram.

I play bf3, bfbc2, l4d2, crysis, extra. I play all games pretty much maxed out with vsync enabled since i have a 60hz monitor. As far as benches go i use vantage, 3d mark 11, heaven 3.0, and sometimes kombuster. I mostly notice the micro stutter in bf3 looking at water and in crysis when moving fast.

Could be your cards running out of vram, ye probally is since they don't add up you only have 1gb vram overall and those two games will use alot of vram with all the graphics cranked up. Tho this is just my guess. In skyrim My gtx 580 uses 1.4-15 almost all the time tho thats with a few mods and in battlefield its always over 1gb.

It happens in bad company 2 and my mem usage is at 76% and gpu usage at 70% so in certain games its not vram related. I will try overclocking to at least 950mhz and see if that helps. It just upsets me that i get micro stutter at all i thought by now nvidia would have worked out all the bugs.

The reason that the 'bug' is not 'worked out' is that to completely remove any possibility of microstutter in any scenario nV would have to tune the driver in such a way that we'd see about 50-60% SLI scaling. But consumers want their 90-100% scaling (in fact they expect it), and the occasional microstutter unavoidably comes along with that I'm afraid.

you should add you're comp to the sig smile.gif

what type of displays are you using? The VRAM definately could be the problem if you're playing at a resolution above 1920x1080
