Looking for a new Keyboard. - Page 3

More conflicting reports...Hmm

I like the clicky noise, I don't see hot it'd be so loud it'd bother me though...Browns sound, kinda lame. Ah, so the reason the Filco are so rare is because of the Blues, I read they were rare, but found them readily in stock on Amazon, so I was confused.

And the one you linked has the keys on the side, I don't really like that, think it looks dumb, and kind of cheap.

fyi, the "novelty" doesn't wear off after a week like he said.

I was referencing to one certain annoying characteristic of the blue switches - the noise.

Not only do you get noise from the switch, you'll also get the noise if you bottom out, and it is very annoying if you have a quiet environment setup because the room is instantly filled with a clicking noise that can be heard past a brick wall once you start typing.

It'll make you feel like an typing expert for the first week and it'll put a stupid happy smirk on your face, but $100 + for a keyboard is still a hefty investment and things such as noise should be mentioned.

Age, I've only researched MEchanical Keyboards for the past year or so, but the first thing I heard, the first result in Google, was "noise"

Which I thought "nice."

It's your fault for not researching.

It was just a friendly heads up and nothing more as I previously mentioned. thumb.gif Just like buying GPUs, people usually doesn't account for noise until they've had it for a good while, then they start looking for quieter aftermarket solutions.

You guys are develing way too much into personal preferences. And Age was trying to be nice.

Browns are in no way lame, ask quite a few brown users. They're impressive switches, better than blues anyday.

Again that is just my opinion.

I've never tried Torpes, or blacks or clears so I can't be sure. But I've used a razer blackwidow and a Das ultimate. Total meh for me. Browns are my thing.

impressive?

lol.

imo

green > blue > topre > white alps > brown

i like a noticeable bump in my switches. and topre is just smooth to type on without being too light like red switches.

I also have a Das w/ browns/blanks and I'm bothered by the fact that the peggings (the legs that rises the keyboard up) of the keyboard doesn't have rubber grips, so it'll slide around sometimes if you exert enough force. Just another thing to add on to the list if you're buying a keyboard. Some things you can only get a total grasp if you have actual experience with the object, and keyboard switches are one of those things.

have you tried putting some of that cabinet liner under the feet?

Off topic:

You know, I have yet to try out the different exotic types of switches. The bump was not my thing really, I want my accutation point and end to be close to each other (as linear as possible?). I would've like to try reds, but at less than 50g, I would make far too many mistakes. I'm pulling 60wpm with minimal errors (I'm not a very fast or good typist) on the browns, which is pretty average (standard "not looking" method with peck and peek for numbers/symbols).

I wish I had like $300 to see what is so good about Torpes.

But I think my only upgrades will be some PBT OCN keycaps for my iOne xarmor u9.

Topre switches aren't anything impressive.

My sisters boyfriend had one, cost him 225$.

I was helping them move today, to you know, see how it felt.

IT felt the same as typing on my 5$ OEM Keyboard. Mushy and all, no clang.

Funny part is, he has a 225$ Keyboard, but an Athlon X2 440 with like a NVIDIA 7600GT, and like 1GB of RAM, and he's supposedly a programmer. I guess you don't need beefy rigs to be one. tongue.gif

http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?pid=rf_se02b0

This is the one he has...I didn't really feel anything special about it.
