OC a i5 2500K with ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3? - Page 2

Thread Starter
Just got all the components and hooked everything out of the case to test it first. But nothing appears on the screen when I switch the power on.

I am using the CPU graphics and connected to the VGA port. No beeps from the MB or display on Dr. Debug. The MB gets power because the CPU fan spins. I am using the 24 pin power connector.

Please please help?

Is 8 pin connected? Check CMOS jumper. Also take out your CPU and check bent pin.

What do you mean by 8pin?
CMOS is on default.
Removed CPU and no pins were bent. (thank gosh)

And still anything :-(

Sorry drbaltazar, I'm such a noob. I didn't know the CPU had its own power connector. Haven't built a PC since 2007.rolleyes.gif

So did you fix it? By 8-pin I mean CPU's own power connector. It is usually located on the top of the motherboard.

i have the same mother board you have, but i have the i7 2700k and am sitting at 4.8ghz and 1.35v. right now, posting this reply, my temps are about 34*c average. i'm not quite sure myself how well the i5's overclock but this board seems to be pretty good. and also, don't feel bad about being a noob! we all started somewhere! good luck!

All is setup, I'll take pictures later today. Installed Windows 7 and the drivers for now.
Will tweak later:thumb:.

@trumpet-205: Yup, its fixed now. just had to connect the CPU power. that 8-pin. (I didn't know because its actually x2 4pin from the PSU)

@jimski427: Thanks for not shuning me:drool:
