Bulldozer vs Phenom II - Page 9

Even I do flight sims (FSX & XPX ) on an Athlon X3 , FSX manages between 15-29 fps with mid high settins, and XPX manages to 20-35 fps on MAX settings except a couple of ones which are fps killers, earlier I had an Intel Dual Core E5700 and I used to pull good fps in FSX @high-max sets using Bojotes tweak and a Shader mod for ATI cards (this ati is the HD 5450 ). FSX loves Intel CPU's due to the better IPC with the SB series. The Phenom are strong but it does not have the IPC which the SB has. I have heard the 960t is a very good performer myself may get it by tomorrow hopefully.

Well, SB does have a better IPC, but the PII x6 is much more powerful, so I assume it would outperform a SB chip within my budget.

Just found this..You do have to do some digging..also this
http://www.computermakler.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=5267&currency=USD
Why AMD would stop making them before FX is improved is beyond me..I guess they're just determined to shoot themselves
right in the foot with a high-caliber handgun :kookoo.gif:
Do they really think that trying to force-feed new lower-ipc chips onto the public is going to go over well?

Well, my budget is about $350-$400 for those 4 parts, and thanks to Schmuckley, I can get a 1090T for $140.

Are you anywhere near a microcenter? If not, grab the Turban, if you are grab a i5-2500K.

$180 i5-2500k
$125 ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
-$50 Combo Special deal i5-2500k with any Z68 mobo
$255 Total For your mobo and CPU.

You can always grab a different motherboard (and still get $50 off), you can grab any Z68 and P67(I think). The extreme3s/4s are good overclocking boards though thumb.gif

well with the $50 rebate, you would get the processor for $130, cheaper than the Turban wink.gif

There is your answer. Intel all the way. Flight simulator game (especially FSX) loves Intel much more than AMD. Any veteran FSX player will tell you to buy Intel by all means.
