[MWOmercs.com] MechWarrior Online: Summer 2012 - Page 3

Personally I haven't played any of the mechwarrior games, and the gameplay looks like it's just a bunch of slowly walking around and holding down trigger fingers at enemy mechs. Doesn't look like any fun at all, I must be missing something. Somebody please enlighten me because I am hearing a lot of positive things about this!

Was big on the first 2 when they came out. There's a lot going on behind the slow moving pew pew. It's more a sim than a shooter. There should be a lot of customization too.

Edit withholding excitement until a few months after launch.

Granted it's not a run and gun type game. But it's been a very indepth mech sim game. It is however a game type that you either love or hate. But the level of detail that past games have had really make it stand out from the rest.

On my top 3 list for PC games I'm getting as soon as possible, just below SimCity and Borderlands 2.

You have to actually play the game to know what all the fuss is about. The videos really dont do the game experience any justice, in-fact they do a diservice. For one, you have to understand that its a sim-based shooter.... think force feedback joystick... highly customizable robotic war machines... some are fast and are used as scouts... some are very large like the ones in t he video and are referred to as 'assault' mechs, then you got all sorts of mechs in-between. In the earlier MW games... a well customized light-medium mech could harass an assault mech if it was well built and well-piloted, so there are different skill-aspects to the game . Also, organized clan-based scrims where each member has a specialty and everyone work's to eachother's aptitude.

The game is based on the Battletech Universe RPG games & novels.... It is by-far the most organized and fun multiplayer game-experience I've ever had.... and I played CAl-m Coutner-strike for almost a decade.... so I do like my fast-paced FPS shooter.

Anyway, if you like run n gun COD-like arcade shooter games then this is probably not up your alley.... either way i encourage you to try it out, albeit you get a nice force feedback joystick and get the full experience.

could anyone recommend a good joystick for this game. It sounds crazy indepth, and I could log quite a few hours into something like this. I've played armored core a bit and I believe some other mech game on the PS2, and they were phenomenal. If this game is worth the experience, I wanna pick up a nice joystick to play this.

At least I know where I'm going to be wasting this summer now.

I'll be in the same boat in terms of joysticks. My cheap little flight stick I toy around with is not acceptable at all..haha

Thanks for the feedback on the game, it definitely looks interesting. I'll try it out on release, but I don't think I'll be able to put in the time that seems necessary to get a lot out of the game. I already put so much of my time into school and Dota2 lol. If my friends ever got into this game I think I would end up putting a lot of time into it judging by how much depth you guys say there is.
